Minimally Invasive Robotic Hip Replacement
Minimally Invasive Robotic Hip Replacement
Charles E. Toulson, MD, MBA, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Toulson specializes in adult hip and knee reconstruction, adult hip and knee revisions, muscle sparing hip replacement and state-of-the-art robotic-assisted joint replacement.
The traditional hip replacement approach involves splitting and detaching muscles from the top of the thigh bone. These muscles are repaired and reattached after the joint has been replaced.
Our surgeons rarely cut the Quadriceps or the VMO muscles. Rather we use special instruments and techniques to “lift” the muscle and slide it. Only the skin and capsule are cut. Surgery time typically takes 30 minutes to implant. LESS PAIN and QUICKER RECOVERY
